Family Squirrel Event

Come and join us this Sunday at Dreel Woods from 10:30 AM to noon for a fun morning dedicated to red squirrels! We're super excited to have Hollie Sutherland, the Project Coordinator of the Eastern Lowlands Red Squirrel Group, join us to chat about all things squirrels. Hollie will introduce the project, share different survey and monitoring methods, explain how you can get involved, and provide squirrel-themed activities for the whole family.

This event is open to everyone and it's completely FREE. We've got about 25 spots available, so if you'd like to join us, please shoot us an email at footprinteastneuk@gmail.com to reserve your spot.

Date: This Sunday, 16th June

The Eastern Lowlands Red Squirrel Group (ELRSG) aims to ensure red squirrels continue to be a part of Scotland’s special native wildlife. It is funded through the Red Squirrel Survival Trust and working in partnership with the volunteer led Fife Red Squirrel Group. While 75% of the UK’s remaining red squirrels are found in Scotland, their distribution has declined drastically where grey squirrels, first introduced from North America in the late 1800s, have become established. With the help of local organisations, landowners and local volunteers, the project is working to protect red squirrels, principally by strategic grey squirrel population management to combat the spread of grey squirrels in key strategic areas and manage the impact of squirrel pox.

Motorbikes, Mushrooms & Roots 18th Feb
10:30 am - 1 pm

Really excited to invite you to a 2-hour event that involves motorbikes, mushrooms, and roots.

We are bringing together three groups of people who share a love for nature and the beauty of Fife: those who enjoy riding their motorcycles through the Fife countryside, those who have a passion for fungi and mushrooms or want to learn about it, and those who promote climate action.

We will start the event at Dreel Halls and include short talks and activities for kids. After that, we will head to Dreel Woods to plant fungi and trees. The event will conclude with a motorbike show in Queens Gardens, where kids can play or plant a tree.

This event is free and family-friendly. We will provide some light refreshments, but please bring your own travel mug.

If you plan to join us, please send us an email so that we can estimate the number of people we should expect.
